Is Febreeze really good for clearing odors, or does it just cover it up?

I just got a dog and my place is starting to smell, particularly my rugs. Is Febreeze a good way to make my stuff smell better? What's the best way to make my stuff smell better without just covering it up?

  1. Personally I prefer to use more natural things to take care of any smells in my house. I use a product called Nature's Miracle Stain and Odor Remover for pet stains. It contains enzymes that are known to break down the elements of urine and f***s to eliminate the odor and not re-attract another soiling. I found it at PetCo.

Febreeze is made from toxic chemicals that are hazzardous to you, your children and your pets. They are absorbed through your lungs and your skin.

To use the pet stain and odor remover, you soak up what you can with paper towels, then soak the area thoroughly with the spray and let dry. I had the same situation as soon as the damper warmer weather started and although it took a couple of applications, it does not smell anymore. (my puppy had peed on more areas than I thought and I really needed to give it a good saturation)

  2. yea i luv febreeze! it really gets rid of odors!

  3. febreeze is a good way to remove odor from a house. it attaches to the 'smell molecules' and cancels them out. after that you may want to consider incense or potpourri (yuk.)

  4. I have a friend with 3 dogs and their house smells like dog all the time...The febreze only works short term.  The best thing  I can tell you is to NOT let your new bf sit on your furniture... That's what pet beds are for- pets!  Plus, unlike rugs/furniture can be easily laundered!

****I recently started cleaning their house for extra $$$ and  I can tell you that vacuuming EVERYDAY really does help!  Get sofa covers that can be laundered if you do let Fido on the couch... Vacuum furniture/soft surfaces weekly...

***Crate train Fido- that will minimize "accidents" while you are away!

Also, if you haven't done so get your vacuum cleaned/checked or replace if it's OLD/WORN... It may NOT be cleaning properly.  I have a HOOVER SAVVY and it's GREAT especially for pets!  It cost 1/2 the amount of a DYSON and I know it works!

I would also suggest that you brush your dog often and groom him regularly so he doesn't smell!

Air out your home whenever possible- Sprinkle baking soda on you rugs carpets and let it sit overnight... It will remove pet odor... naturally and it's super cheap!  You can even use it to give "Fido" a dry bath!  You can also wipe Fido down with baby wipes in between baths/grooming....

    Good luck-

I have a dog and my house doesn't stink!
