  1. We went in March two years ago.  It rained a bit and was colder than Southern California, but hotels are cheaper, and there were fewer tourists crowding the major sites.  Go, have a wonderful time, just pack appropriately.

  2. in february its quite cold but no crowds

  3. the corwds are always pretty large however February isn't a bad time - it's not the height of tourist season - but check the school calendars.  check with your hotel - they can usually inform you of their historical occupancy during the time period in which you're staying.  as long as it's not in the 80's you should be fine (epending on your llocation).  be advised - it's a little cold and the weather can shift so be readdy to layer! also wind whips pretty good in the open area.  i found an oversized scarf was nost practical - could layer around the body and cover the head at the same time and could wear just it while touring and it wasn't as cold  : )

    have a wonderful time!

  4. i was in Rome during the month of february 2 years ago, and it was warm.  i would say high 60's 70's.  thats pretty warm considering that Rome does tend to get cold in the winter.  But it all depends.

  5. we went in march this past year, the first week or so.  overall the weather was much better than if we went during the summer.  it was cooler which helped since we were walking a lot.  it rained a little and one day it was particularly cold.  but if you dress in layers and make use of the subway system, it is a great time of year!  lodging is cheaper and the crowds are much less.  you wont be miserable in the heat and can take your time seeing everything with the extra space you will have from less people.

  6. Rome's climate is at its most comfortable from April through June or early July. By August, the temperature during the heat of the day often exceeds 35 degrees Celsius, 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Many businesses close during August, and Romans traditionally abandon the city for cooler climes. The average high temperature in December is about 13 degrees Celsius, 55 Fahrenheit, according to the British Broadcasting Corp.'s Weather Centre site.

The weather will probably be cool, the crowds manageable.

  7. Wet and cool, like most Med cities.  I prefer early to mid May, before schools let out because the weather is generally warmer and dryer, but the crowds have not yet come due to kids still in school.

Summers are hot and dry.  Long lines prevail (hours to get into the Vatican, for example).

In general late spring or early fall, before and after school is out and in session, are the best times to visit Rome I think.

  8. There are always lots of crowds in Rome but February is a great time to go as the weather's cooler and you can walk around without being uncomfortable.

  9. Anytime is a good time!

  10. I have found that Rome is crowded no matter what time of the year you are there anymore.  The weather is cool in February--not brutally cold and definitely not hot at that time.
