Is February a suitable time to come to new zealand to do one of the tramps?

i am coming to new zealand in febuary 2009 as i would like to do one of the tramps is this a suitible time to come or when should i come i`m thinking of doing the routeburn track

  1. Yes definitly. February is usually the peak of our summer,  but don't expect sunny days because Fiordland is the wettest part of New Zealand and the nights aren't always that warm either. But it'd be the best time of year.

  2. pretty much better than most other times...

    it's the hottest part of the year, so it might get a bit steamy while you're at it, and it'll probs rain. that track sounds great mate go for gold.

  3. Perfect time. I did the Milford Track in November (many years ago) and it was freezing at the top of the mountain. If the tramps you are thinking of are in the South Island that would be the best time. North Island could be quite hot.

  5. Excellent. Hope the weather is kind to you. You have a very good chance of good weather in February. Because New Zealands weather can be a little unpredictable be prepared or take a look at The Able tasman National park More chance there of good weather. The milford Track would be lovely if you got good weather as well. But More than likely you will have a super tramp along the Routeburn. Good luck.
