  1. Hes not a di*k!

Though I can't see a problem with paying a little to earn a lot, I think Alonso is happy to find something different to moan about!

He will pay it as will everyone else.

  2. He said it's cheap for him but other drivers like Vettel have to pay 22 000 euros for the license while not making even a million (Toro Rosso payed him roughly 100 000 euros last year I believe). Hamilton's McLaren salary was 500 000 euros last year if I remember right, and his license rose to 228 000 euros. He effectively loses a good part of last year's salary even tho he McLaren gave him a good raise this year. Not surprisingly this time he agrees with the GPDA.

As a GPDA director, Alonso is trying to help everyone. Anyone who wants to bash him for that is just not thinking right.

The problem is not the price the problem is the criteria. Some drivers are low paid but are still getting in the points (the more points the more expensive the license), making their licenses more expensive compared to other drivers that are not making it into the points.

  3. Not for this reason but he can be a pillock. I can see where he is coming from on this issue. The new charge is unjustified and will not help F1 in any way. It is simply another of Max's demands. The British tend to accept whatever tax hike is forced upon them with nothing more than a little moan down the pub but we cannot expect everyone else to accept mindless taxation (and tax is exactly what it is) without having the right to question it. And all he is doing is asserting his right to question. We cannot begrudge him that just because he is so wealthy.

  4. No matter what, Alonso is a d**k!

after his antics at Mclaren, he sure made a fool out of himself

  5. No, but he needs to win some races or he's screwed and then he'll be a d**k.

  6. No he is not...

  7. not at all. He is stating facts about other drivers too you know. In fact it would mean that Robert Kubica would have to pay the most money because he is in the lead of the championship. He is not on a wage anywhere as near as Kimi for example. IMO Alonso is just stating the obvious, this is not a fair way for the FIA to raise revenue. Not all the drivers get huge wages you know.

  8. Only a d*ck would single out Alonso, when it seems everyone is griping about it.  Or don't you read the articles you'd referencing?

"Lewis Hamilton has joined a chorus of Formula One drivers expressing their anger over an increase in their license fees, but at the same time rejected a call for them to strike."

And since Alonso is head of the GPDA, he also has to consider what the rate hike will do for less fortunate drivers on the lower end of the pay scales.

  9. It seems to have annoyed all the drivers that they've had over a fivefold increase in the basic fee for their licence and a fourfold increase in the charge for each point they accrue. No matter what you earn it's a shock if you have to pay that much extra for something without which you cannot do your job.

  10. i think you need to do abit of research before asking this question.

    and Alonso isn't a d**k btw.

    :)

  11. No, he's not a d**k.

Where does the money go to?

    Charity?

    The government?

    Nope.

    Someone else's pocket.

The drivers will make less money so that others will make more.

At the end of the day doesn't he have the right to try and keep as much of it as possible?

    Is that sinful?

  12. Thats not the only thing he is moaning about he is complaining that schumi is getting more money a year than alonso and says 44 million pounds a year if not enough to live on has he has a big mortgage to pay off which was schumis old chateau he bought last year.

  13. Everyone that follows F1 knows Alonso complains a lot. He can be right or wrong but the fact remains.

He is not a d**k if he really thinks the fee rise is unjust. People get really angry if they get a $25 parking ticket they didn't deserve. With this I want to say, the fact you can easily afford something can become secondary, and the argument of what's right/just takes control.

  14. Why are you spewing on Fernando when the entire drivers association is in agreement?  The drivers salaries arent the point in this argument.  Its the fact that they are increasing fees by almost 1000%.  How would like your fuel prices to be raised 1000% or any other debt?    Read the article with your brain and not your eyes.
