Question:

Is Floyd vulnerable in the corner ?

What I'm talking about, if anyone watched the pbf-Hatten fight , was the way Floyd turned his upper body every time he was in the corner against Hatten. Against a body puncher like Cotto, who looks for the liver shot specifically, would Floyd change his tactics once in the corner? I mean Floyd did it every time he was in that corner.

  1. No he is NOT. Listen to Fudstein's answer.

The key to beat Mayweather is a good jab. De La Hoya seemed to proved it, but he stopped using his jab for some reason. If De La Hoya would've kept using his jab, there's no doubt in my mind that DLH would've won the fight. If the rematch does happen, Mayweather SR will tell Oscar to use his FUC*ING jab. JAB, JAB, JAB.

  2. floyd wont be able to do the shoulder roll against cotto. cotto bangs hard and will hurt cottos shoulder if he puts its in front of his face. floyd dont want anything to do with cotto cuz he knows wussup

  3. Until someone can convince Mayweather to abandon the philly shell defense, he is not vulnerable to the body.  The philly shell places a premium on protecting the very liver shot you're talking about, and counts on the fighter's ability to roll away from punches that would otherwise be protected by a more traditional guard.

Is Floyd vulnerable in the corner?  Not from Cotto.  Miguel doesn't punch fast enough to force Floyd out of the philly shell.

  4. No way, that's actually when he knocked Hatton out with that check hook, in the corner. He turned his body and countered with a beautiful left hook that knocked the brit silly.

  5. Sorry he is not vulnerable to the body, in the corner or anywhere.  He has faced guys like Goyo Vargas, Jose Luis Castillo, & Ricky Hatton who are all adept at body punching and with the exception of the 1st Castillo fight has had no problems.  Both Oscar De La Hoya & Carlos Baldomir thought they could try bullying Floyd around ripping shots to his arms and body and had little sucess in this.  Floyd is a gymrat and his body is pretty solid.  Also his stance allows him to take alot of would be bodyshots on his arms.

Not saying Cotto couldn't take Floyd out with a body shot, but it would be more because he slipped a good one in, not because its a weakness of Floyd's.

  6. Mayweather defence allows him to counter with offence. If you have a guy on the ropes, you are on the offence end. That leave you open to a wild punch that can send you to the mat. On the ropes, your on the defence end. You have a choice to punch your way out, tie him up are keep your defence up while moving out. Trainers teach you to stay off the ropes against brawlers. If you look at the Chavez fight, Mayweather rolled the uppercuts. That can happen to anybody. If you are sitting there banging on some ones body, your not protected because your hands is punching and your head is just sitting there wide open. Keeping one arm down, while shoulder is up. PBF has the other hand close to the chin and the elbow as a body protector. The shoulder is a 3rd blocker when you only have two hands. Mayweather only use the shoulder roll if its safe. Only way to get a body punch in, is to punch down the middle, which is a gamble. That would leave you open for a short hook are uppercut. Mayweather ribs, liver is protected but the center of his body is not. Some times he drops into the shoulder roll and sometimes he doesn't and  brings both hands up. Only time he would use the rope of dope, is when his opponent is getting tired or middle to late rounds. While Cotto is banging the body, Cotto is taking head shots.  Torres, Corley, Judah almost sent Cotto to the campus. Torress did it with wild punching, while Cotto had him in the corner. Cotto just got caught with a wild punch, which can happen to anybody

  7. no look what hatton did he thought he had floyd cornered but got that bit too cocky n went for big punch then argubly the best punch technique wise for last 20 years that check hook was phenominal. i think he lures u into a false sense of vunerability then u think u got him then does that roll then your on back foot. id like to see floyd face cotto and cotto has a bettr chance than  hatton did as is naturally bigger but in the mosley fight showed cotto cant keep pressure fopr 12 round so would fail to solve the mayweather puzzle
