  1. No, but for some it might be scary but don't worry.

  2. It is very natural to be afraid of unfamiliar situations like flying. I could quote all of the statistics about how safe flying is but that probably won't help you much.

Take -off and landing will probably worry you the most because of the sounds that you may hear. On take-off the engines at first will sound the same as when you are taxiing around the airport and then will get a little louder, you will feel yourself being pushed slightly into your seat as the plane accelerates. You will feel the nose of the plane begin to lift of the ground 20-30 seconds after the start of take-off and then the plane will be in the air before you know it. You will feel and may hear a "thump" which is the landing gear coming up and then shortly after that a sound like a blender or an electric mixer and that is the flaps coming up which is all perfectly normal.

Landing is the same thing in reverse order. I recommend some chewing gum to chew during the descent so your ears don't feel "plugged up". Bring your i-pod to help you relax listening to your favorite tunes.

You will have a blast after you get settled in and on your way. Obviously you have not been to Puerto Rico before or in a very long time so this should be a fun adventure for you. Enjoy and Have fun.

  3. It's really not scary at all.

You actually have a MUCH larger chance of dying in a car accident than on a plane.  Think about that....

Also, I think there are some type of medications you can take to keep you from getting sick (?).

If you have an iPod or MP3 player, just plug it in, listen to some music and enjoy the ride!  The worst thing that can happen is a little turbulance when the plane shakes a little because of the weather.  Other than that, plane rides are safe and enjoyable, so don't worry!

  4. i am 12, and i have been on an air craft many times. Let me give you some advice. FIrst of all, do not be scared of a crash, it rarely happens. Bring lots of activity, (i.e reading a book, a puzzle) any leisure activity will work. There are some certain rules on wat you can bring on the cabin in your carry on, due to terrorism. Example: No liquids that are more then 3 oz. like that. Here is a website on the rules on wat you can bring on the cabin. I put it as my source. And other advice from me is that do NOT talk nice to security, they are not nice people for the reason of terrorism, do NOT ask them anything, and do NOT break the rules i gave you on the sources, they WILL do extra inspecting on you (it may cause you to miss your flight). If you have any questions ask them to any other staff in the airport. Also, take advantage of when they say, "you are now free to move about the cabin" if you dont you will regret it. Try not to check in too many bags, one as the maximum is a good rule (believe me, the baggage circle to retrieve baggage is a pain in the @$$!!! Also, there is drinks from the airport after checking security to buy, so u wont get dehydrated on the plain. DRINK LOTS OF WATER, the aircraft is very dry (last time i wentt it waz so dry i had a nose bleed). and go to the bathroom before it takes off. ANd the other thing is that during landing, CHEW GUM, it will stop the pain in your ears and the typical feeling wen you go down, so CHEW GUM DURING LANDING (its important, im not being rude). in the middle of the flite, you can also use the bathroom if you need to. And dont freak out!!! Airplanes are one of the safest forms of transportation, freakin out will only make it worse, believe me!!! It will be fine, and dont forget to follow these instructions wen coming back from puerto rico. if you need any more information, feel free to contact me on my email,    cuban_guy_ontheblock@yahoo.com

  5. It's about the same.  Were you scared when you were 4?  Then you probably will be fine now as well.  Fear of flying is irrational, but that makes it no less real.  Why are you scared now?

  6. It's not scary at all. You might be a little freaked out during take off and // or landing, but what helps is to just read a book or magazine before those two times to distract yourself.

If it's the height you're afraid about, you hardly notice how high you are. I am DEATHLY afraid of heights, and have been flying since I was 3 months old, and I don't freak out on planes at all.

  7. Don't be scared, I fly all the time. I'm only 10, but my parents are divorced and one lives in the Bahamas. Well don't worry while your landing because the pressure from the plane makes ur ears hurt. You can't hear for awhile. So either chew gum when your ears begin to hurt or just keep swalloing or yawning. Hope you have an Awesome trip!
