organized football?  YES!  it will help build confidence, help make friends, install a form of discipline.  It was great for my buddies kid.  

Martial Arts like Tae Kwon Doe do the same thing.

It is an EXCELLENT sport for boys especially here in the US!! I think that is all we live and breathe for!

Which type of football- do you mean football or American football?

Football isn't exactly a hobby but it will give a boy something to do. When I was a kid I enjoyed hobbies like building model cars and trucks and playing with road racing sets, train sets and gas powered planes. Video games are also a good hobby for boys. Kite flying is another good hobby. Also check your local cub or boy scouts they provide great hobbies for boys as well.
