Hello, I purchased a huge can of foster's beer for $2.49 the other day, and have not drank it yet. Is it a good beer to drink? Its a huge can, it has like a pint and 8 or 9oz in the can. What should I expect? How does it compare to heineken? Please help...thanks

  1. Foster's is another pale, cheaply produced lager. It's like Australia's version of Bud or Coors. Light in color and flavor.

  2. Australian macro-brew; if I'm in Australia I'm drinking either Toohey's (thanks to the lovely lass from Sydney who introduced me to this golden nectar) or Castlemaine...maybe some Victoria Bitter if I'm in the mood.

  3. Um, it's in a can. I don't know if that helps, but that's usually a good indication. Bottled beer in a brown or green bottle usually means it's decent, if not great. If you want a good beer, get Dragon's Milk or Taddy Porter.

  4. fosters has never been a premium beer - and nor does it claim to be.  It is unfair to compare it to heineken - which is three times the price.

fosters is just a beer - a bloody good beer - but just beer

  5. Run of the road Auzzie beer. Heineken is far better.

  6. No, just a well-advertised one.

  7. To me it had a really nasty after taste. One can was enough.

  8. Being an Australian living in Australia and who drinks a lot of beer I personally despise Fosters. Boags, Carlton, Coopers, Cascade, Tooheys and Little Creatures on the other hand are great.

  9. it depends on your taste. I think it's a horrible beer and most australians do too. They advertise it in the USA like it's a great beer but I don't like it. Compared to heineken it's prob about the same, but not as light.

  10. Again, the phrase "premium beer" doesn't actually mean anything and is just a marketing ploy. You already bought it, so why don't you drink it and let us know how it compares.

  11. Fosters Beer is an easy beer to drink. It is not to strong in flavour and I think is similar to Budweiser. If you are looking for a nicer drinking beer would recommend trying Sam Adams, Yeunling or even Blue Moon.

Fosters is meant to be an Australian beer but there is nothing Australian about it. No one drinks it there anymore they maybe did in the 80's.

  12. No.  It's pretty much c**p.  Same with Corona, ppl think it's good b/c it's imported but it is ****water.  If you want a good Australian beer go for Cooper's.
