  1. France is beautiful.. Everywhere you go, the scenery is spectacular.

Last time we went we drove from Calais to Longuedoc.  about 900 miles or so.  There is a vast range of scenery, beaches, mountains, villages, countryside.  It is fantastic.  But you do not have to go as far as that.  Brittany, Normandy, Picardy, all are within easy reach from England.  Perfect for holidays, and the roads are really good.  No roadworks, never - ending  cones!!!!  The traffic is free flowing, even around Paris, ( but I don't recommend driving around Paris or the La Peripherique on a first trip.

The towns and villages are really well kept, no litter, flowers everywhere.   There is a great deal of civic pride, and it shows.

We have holidayed in France for many years and seen lots of places.  I can not think of a single one that I would not recommend.

  2. Great place and an even better one if your driving through the

marvellous towns and villages viewing beautiful scenery.Just got

    me going now.

  3. Yes, yes, yes.  I love France.  Other people have their own favourite 'bit' but I love all of it.  My mother (dead now) was French, so I am fortunate enough to be fluent in French, and mainly I went to Paris, and later to the suburbs to catch up on the rap music that North African immigrants were bringing over.  Also, when I could, I worked at Les Restos du Coeur which were started by a first class French comedian, Coluche.   I also worked at a monastery but really only because it was also a publishing house as well.  Also, I worked part time at a place that sold reconditioned cheap furniture etc, but I probably should not be telling you that, because the full time workers were ex-criminals.

So, when people ask about holiday places, I probably am not the best person to ask.  I go for places where people help other people with their miserable existences, not for sunshine and good food, etc.

  4. Bonjour !

This is not an objective answer, because I am french, and I won't say you not to come....

I would do it myself if I were from abroad, anyway...

Simply, I want to underline "Geranium"'s answer...He said something really important.: make an effort to speak a little french..... even if you only know 10 words, use them...French people are lovely, kind and friendly, always ready to help you, but.... a little suceptible.

Never have the sentiment to be rediculous with your 5 or 10 words.... the essential is to show that you are making an effort! .....and you will be welcome everywhere!

(incidentally, I guess this is not only valid for France.....)

    Later.....

  5. am french livin` in England, was lucky to travel for 20 years, stayed in Cali and Miami...still believe my country is the best destination for holiday. All the world scenery in a stamp-size country. Mountains--ocean--see--valleys--vineyard... the most beautiful city in the world with Paris--food traditions all over the place--cheap transports.

MAKE AN EFFORT TO SPEAK A FEW WORDS IN FRENCH AND PEOPLE WILL BE NICE TO YOU
