Question:

Is Francisco Rodriguez a good idea to keep in my keeper league??

I play in a 5x5 roto league. I'm planning on keeping Hamels, Longoria, and Reyes so far. Is it worth hanging on to F-Rod? Is his free agency going to diminish his fantasy value at all? I'm wondering bc the trade deadline in my league is approaching and I could trade him for another bat in my line up? Suggestions?

  1. Is he worth keeping, yes.

    Is he overrated, yes.

His saves number this year is a byproduct of the Angels offense which hovers around 19th in run production.  He's getting opportunities because the Angels for much of the season were producing 5 or fewer runs.

His ERA , Ks and stats outside of saves are not as good as Mariano Rivera's, but he's still a stud.

As an Angel fan, he's scary.  He'll load the bases, take pitchers full count, but get the save by the seat of his pants.

Worth keeping, possibly even better trade bait.

  2. No i would hold on to him. Yes he is haveing an amazig year this year be he has always been solid.  He will probably not get 57 saves(which he is on pace to this year) again but 45ish is very possible in the years to come.

  3. He is a keeper regardless of his current free agency, a must start relief pitcher...As far as trading him goes, where do you have the potential to gain the most points in the standings, hitting or pitching? If you are behind a few people in some hitting categories but not very far, trade for another nice bat and gain a number of points, especially if you have a cushion in pitching categories or are way behind in pitching. Whichever hitting or pitching has the most upside for you and potential to gain points, focus on that area as the season is coming to a close...good luck
