Is Franklin demoted as the closer and Izzy take his job back in St. Louis?

I looked at the Yahoo website and they have Izzy as the closer in the Cardinals depth chart. Should I dump Franklin now?

  1. No - Izzy pitched today for 2.1 innings in relief. He is just working the arm, shoulder and hip to build up strength. It will be awhile before he is moved to closer. He might not even make it back to closer if he can't get his fastball up to 94.

    Franklin will be the closer for now and if anyone else has a chance outside of Izzy it is the rookie Perez who can throw 96....


  2. No--even if Izzy does finally return to the closer role he is going to have to build up his arm strength and confidence in the majors.

    I think you are safe with Franklin til the All Star break at the minimum.
