  1. nowhere in britain is good to study because the people there are idiots.  they do not even have any real athletes in the olympics....

  2. No, because the scots speak a dialect of english, that many in england struggle to understand

  3. As I said before as long as you don't talk to the locals.

    I'm Scottish so I know :P

  4. yes, there is nothing bad about it, nice city

you can learn more about it if you post your question in Travel

  5. No, its scottish

  6. There's nothing wrong with Glasgow! people in glasgow talk better and clearer than most english people I've ever heard anyway!! jade goody? what does she even say. I work for virgin media and get the worst speaking people ever and they're from england. leave glasgow alone, its fine for studying english.

you dont learn "scottish" english. we are not allowed to use scottish dilect in english in school or universities, we've to use proper english like every other english speaking country

  7. If your goal is to speak virtually unintelligible English, yes, it's a very good place.

  8. Yes, as long as you can cope with  people saying 'what did you say'

  9. Of course! Glasgow has great traditions of Universities.

Scotland is an English speaking nation exactly the same as England, and the USA etc etc.

People have regional accents ALL OVER the UK and the English speaking world.... that doesnt make people less qualified to be students of the English language!

  10. This question is good for a laugh for anyone in Great Britain. Glaswegians speak the most unintelligible dialect in the whole of the British Isles. They use words that are not even part of the English language and other Scots are barely able to converse with them. To get an understanding of the accent, work your way up to a flaming temper, place as many marbles in your mouth as you can and say "You Jimmy! are yez lookin for a fite" Other good places in GB to learn interesting English might be Newcastle University where you could study "Geordie" English ( Larn yesel Geordie) or i could give you a quick guide to cockney which nobody outside the East End of London understands properly. Alan ( Your China from the Smoke)

  11. I would say the two main universities in Scotland are Glasgow and Strathclyde.

Stratchclyde is well-known for excelling in business studies, where as Glasgow excels in languages - including English.

Glasgow University is a great Uni to choose.

  12. yes and no.  yes, as if you can understand the scottish speaking english, then you can understand anybody.  no, because the scottish have a sort of different version of english to the rest of the world.  the best place to study english is, I think, northern ireland- good country, friendly people and a brilliant education system.  and very good university's.

  13. are you kidding --- i am Scottish  not Glaswegian and have a problem understanding what they are saying
