  1. I don't think Gardner is the solution to the Outfield problems we had. He's young, but I don't see him being any good in the future. I think the Yanks should try to get Vernon Wells, even though the Jays prolly won't let him go to the Yankees.

  2. Yankees suck!

    Go Sox!

    Sorry I had to

  3. No, he should be on the bench, with Nady in left, Damon (I said it, Damon) in CF, Abreu in RF, and Betemit/A-Rod splitting DH/3B duties IMO.

  4. No, he is not the long term answer.  The long term answer is Austin Jackson.  He probably won't be ready for the big leagues until 2010, but he is a five tool talent.  I can't see Ca$hman trading for a center fielder when he already has an outfield of Matsui, Damon and Nady for next season(that's not including Abreu, who they are likely to resign).  After the 2009 season is over, Damon and Matsui come off the books and the Yankees will probably make a run at Carl Crawford.  A 2010 trio of Crawford, Jackson and Abreu/Nady would do nicely.  The Yankees are most likely to pursue Texiera and/or Sabathia this off season.  And depending on what Mussina and Pettite do, they might also pursue two of the following;  Sheets, Burnett or Perez.

Get this straight, they will not trade for Vernon Wells.  Toronto won't trade him within the division and the Yankees don't need another injury prone over paid/under productive outfielder.

Also, there is a difference between trading for a player and signing a player outright.  Teams cannot go and sign players that are under the contract of another team.  They can acquire the contract of a player they trade for, along with his remaining salary(unless it's Manny).

  5. no way. he is nothing special. the yankee's should look for a centerfielder during the off season.

  6. No not at all. Melky is our guy, the Yanks just sent him down because he's young enough for it not to be a big deal. Jason Varitek had a similar slump but because he's older sending him to the minors would have been a slap in the face.

They are hyping Gardner because he is fast and he got one lucky walk off hit. Melky will be back sooner than later. But as for next season, if we don't make the playoffs, things will definitely be shook up.

  7. C'mon are you serious maybe the Yankees should trade for Corey Patterson since your such a big Reds fan.
