Is Gatorade better for a person?

Or is it ("that other kind?) As far as re-hydrating your body goes!

  1. Gatorade has electrolytes, so it's good to drink when your dehydrated.

    A drawback from it is that it has so much sugar.

    I drink it when I have the stomach flu, because I can't keep much else down. So I don't drink it normally because it reminds me of the stomach flu :)

    But the best to drink during sports and activities is water.


  2. My home economics teacher always used to say that gatorade was no better than sugar water - although I believe that gatorade was first used by football players in Florida during games - so maybe it does work.

    For normal hydration and activities just use water. Gatorade and other sports drinks are better when you are really exerting yourself. It is better than sugar water, as someone else mentioned because it has more than just water and sugar in it.

  4. no its a drink. it doesnt beat water. Loads of sugar. So it taste pretty good but its not better for a perso  =)

  6. It is not great for a person, you are better off looking for a drink that has the electrolytes but with out all of the sugars and artificial "stuff" Gatorade is like one of those c**p sodas with a drop of fruit juice in it and a few electrolytes.

  9. I don't think it can re-hydrate it. It just gives you more energy in a way. It's kind of hard to explain.

They're both pretty much the same BUT if you can track down Gatorade powder (they don't always have all the flavors, but they have, like, fruit punch, lemon-lime, orange, grape, maybe "frost"...depends on your store) it's made with sucrose (sugar) instead of high-fructose corn syrup (and some glucose and...dextrose, maybe?  I don't remember.)

    You want to stay away from high-fructose corn syrup.  Also, bear in mind that Gatorade has a LOT of sodium for a drink.  Mind your sodium intake if you drink a lot of Gatorade.

    Reconstituted powdered Gatorade is your best bet.
