By the old definition, Georgia is in Asia, as anything south of the Caucasus mountains is Asia. But the people of Georgia are Europeans who moved across the mountains, and have much closer ties with Europe than with Asia.

A small part of Azerbaijan is in Europe; most of it is in Asia, by the same rules. But the people of Azerbaijan are very definitely Asian.

Azerbaijan is partially in Eastern Europe and partially in Western Asia.

Geographically, Caucasus mountains (its ridge made of highest points) is border here just like Urals elsewhere, between Europe and Asia. Europe included the whole of Black Sea (except Turkey) in it.

However, all 3 republics - Armenia, Azerbaijan & Georgia are located south of Caucasus (Asian side). While the other two consider them to be Asian, Georgians consider them to be Europeans. This is the Ethnic aspect.
