..thoroughbred of all time? I think he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath with the all time greats. He was brilliant- from 6f to 10f. He was insanely fast, yet had the smoothest action of any horse I've ever seen.

  1. not even close

  2. I personally think he had the stamina to go further than 10 - His DI was plenty for most distance races. I will say this: In our modern world, a horse that runs 5 consecutive races with Beyer figures over 119 is pretty darn good (I think this is correct; he certainly had five races with figures over 117 and quite a few over 120). I'd rank him in the top ten since 1900. Unfortunately we may have to wait a long while until we get something like him again.

Paired with anything more recent that Spectacular Bid (who I feel is quite underrated) he would have no trouble winning.

I don't actually think he's the most underrated of all time; he's pretty far up there on most peoples' lists. I'd give that title to Colin or Sysonby, two horses that no one seems to remember. Perhaps Forego or Kelso might be deserving of that title, given that most casual followers haven't ever heard of them or brush them off as long running horses without high percentage records (although followers of the sport put them in the top ten).

  3. had $200.00 to win on him at santa anita in

    the breeders' cup @ 4-1.....he was a rocket-ship

that could get the classic distance!!!!

  4. I think so because is speed figures were incredibly high and the caliber of horses he won against(Roses n May huge world wide winner) and he wired races that were not little dinky races. I thought he was a brilliant horse.

  5. Hi

I think you are right, he is pretty under-rated. With what 10 places from 11 races - that is pretty impressive.

I do think it is very difficult to compare all time greats over the years as each horse and its achievements vary so much.

But you are right, absolusely impressive
