Is Giovanni unstoppable due to the fact that he has Mewtwo?

Is there going to be any pokemon trainer or trainers in the Anime series that will be able to defeat Giovanni and his Mewtwo and put an end to Team Rocket once and for all?

I know that in the movies that Giovanni failed trying to re capture and tame Mewtwo and Mewtwo erased his memory, but he still owns Mewtwo in the Anime series even though the events took place in the movie.

most of the times, the movies are non-canonical (they are not involved in the main plot of the anime). but mewtwo escapes the laboratory it was confined in and has a mind of its own so no person actually owns it. as a matter of fact, mewtwo wants to destroy all of mankind :U
