Question:

Is Global Warming Real? your thoughts?

my thoughts:

Global warming is not real.

my supporting details:

-scientists have noticed the temp rise...yea like 1or 2 degrees. they dont even know if it is one of earth's cycles.

-when Mount St. Helens blew up, it released more "green house gasses" into the atmosphere than humans have ever in their existance.

*Al gore actually wants to create "carbon credits" or something along that name...his plan (which has not been confirmed yet) is to sell these "carbon credits" to people who want to do things that have any relationship with "green house gasses". you would need carbon credits to drive cars along with those rising gas prices! I did not make that corbon credit thing up if thats what your thinking. i saw it on the news and heard it on the radio. take a look for yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_credit

Please share your personal thoughts on global warming and supporting details!

  1. Green House effect is an phenomenon in which earth's atmosphere traps the heat from the sun & prevents it from escaping.

The phenomenon is so named because earth's atmosphere acts like a greenhouse made of glass in which sunlight enters through transparent glass,

but the heat released by plants in the form of infrared radiations is not allowed to escape.

As a result of this , the temp. increasses inside the greenhouse.

In a similar manner, sunlight enters earth's atmosphere and heats the surface of the earth.

But certain gases present in the atmosphere trap the heat emitted by earth's surface & do not allow it to escape.

This causes an increase in temp. of earth's atmosphere. This is known as Global Warming.

The gases causing green house effect are called greenhouse gases. Carbon Dioxide, methane, ozone, and CFCs are the green house gases present in the atmosphere which are responsible for global warming.

  2. i say yes because temperatures are even higher than they have ever been in the season.  how can you explain all the ice melting in the artic and animals dying?  animals that are endangered are most likely to become extinct.  it is defiantly real and it is because of us!

  3. Global; Warming is a scam so the Left can raise the tax on you.!!!

  4. It is a scam created by the government to provoke panic and to control societies.

    My 2 cents.

  5. Is the planet getting a bit warmer?  Perhaps.  Is man the cause?  That is most arrogant of us to say so.  No way can man interfere with the planet's natural cycle of warming and cooling.  Let's move on please.........

  6. Whoever is elected in November should get five top scientists from both sides of the climate change issue in front of them in the Oval Office and let them argue it out. The press should not be involved, and the politics left out.

We should be skeptical about "scientists" who predict climate future based on computer models. People are trying to play God by saying, 'Oh, this computer model told me 50 years from now that this IS going to happen.' That's an arguable point. and I think we should question it. But to say that someone has absolute knowledge of the future seems to me to be playing something more than a mortal.

There is a difference between thinking something is going to happen and deducing something is going to happen. But saying, 'No, I know it; the debate is over' is just plain stupid to say you know something's going to happen 50 years from now.

  7. all the planets in the solar system are heating up now ,is that  our fault tooo,? everyone is heating up so the fact we are is going to happen ,think of this if we  had all the trees and plants growing out of control ,it would make us hotter ,like a jungel,so all the trees we dont have is actually helping us (a little ).so all the hippie's need to start protesting the mars people ,asking them not to cut there tree's down ,or go to urains and tell them to quit flushing so much ,really ,i cant wait for the end to get rid of the ones who rode bikes with helmets ,or pads to keep them from getting hurt or killed .

  8. to me it's very real(i take it very seriously, please don't try to prove me wrong) i respect everyones thoughts. please think about polar bears, why are they sinking? it's because of GLOBAL WARMING. it is real in every way possible(in my mind). and here is a statement to make you luagh. a girl at my school is a non-believer of global warming. and she says the craziest things. she thinks that the polar bears will come back when they go extinct. she thinks the glaciers are asabig as they've been in history! i think its real.

  9. I tend to agree with this expert

I showed some evidence that humans are causing warming in the surface measurements that we have but it is not the greenhouse relation."

Christy has also said that while he supports the AGU declaration, and is convinced that human activities are a cause of the global warming that has been measured, he is "still a strong critic of scientists who make catastrophic predictions of huge increases in global temperatures and tremendous rises in sea levels."

  10. du i lik herd abot is yestrday from dose geeks in my clas.

  11. Fear peddling is a way of life in this country, lately. When the Vikings landed, Iceland was iced over and Greenland was farm country. I guess Al Gore hasn't put that together yet. I've lived on both coasts for my 66yrs and haven't noticed the beach's go back an inch despite his dire predictions and faulty measurements. I think he dreamt this carbon ticket or credit or something one day while flying around in his private jet, which should be illegal. Some of these things go only a couple of hundred feet per gallon of JP4 kerosene on take-off. Maybe he should go over to China and figure out what they owe him for all their pollution.

  12. ok... global warming is real... it is proven and it is mainly caused by human activity. read about it. do the research...

  13. global warming is a complete farse

  14. Yes, pollution is bad for the environment, but I'm not so sure that it is causing "global warming" to the extremes that much of the media and many political and celebrity figures have made out.

I live in Alaska, and yes, for a long while I thought that global warming was for reals, because for a few years there, we were having extremely mild winters. Down in southern Alaska, it mostly rained during the winter, and many dog mushers that participate in the popular annual Iditarod were getting worried that there would not be enough snow to travel the 1000-mile distance from Willow to Nome. There were a few years there where many Alaskans were becoming concerned because it seemed that we were getting less and less snow each year. But, in just the past couple years now, winters have been extremely cold and we have been getting lots of snow. In fact, this last winter, many southern areas of Alaska got record amounts of snowfall  (http://www.uaf.edu/accap/awch/archives/e...

I must say that this past winter was one of the coldest and nastiest I have been witness to in my 20+ lifetime. Many older people that I have talked to told me that this last winter was one of the worst they've experienced since the 70's.

I remember that one of the biggest things global warming advocates were using to promote their theory was the claim that the polar ice caps are melting away more and more with each passing year. In Al Gore's documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," he used a scene of a couple polar bears standing on an iceberg in the middle of the ocean as "proof" that the polar ice caps are melting and that the polar bears' habitat is swiftly disappearing. (What he failed to mention was that this scene was shot during August, which is the time of year when ice melting from the caps is normal; AND he failed to mention that the polar bears were not stranded in the middle of the ocean, but rather, there was a large mass of ice not far away from the ice berg they were perched upon.) What many supporters of the global warming agenda are failing to tell the general public, however, is that just over the past winter (THIS winter), much of the ice that melted from the polar ice caps has returned. Yes, that's right, RETURNED. This is data that has been collected by the renowned NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), so it's definitely not some rumor that opposer's of the global warming theory have come up with. And Alaska is not the only part of the world that has experienced colder temperatures and record amounts of snowfall in the past year: Jerusalem, Damascus, Amnan, and northern Saudi Arabia reported having some of the heaviest snowfalls in years, as well as sub-zero temperatures. The United States as a whole also endured several bad snowstorms during the winter months. Check out this article: http://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/global_...

There are a lot of different things that have happened in the past year that are almost a slap in the face to the folks pushing the global warming theory. Dig around a little, and you'll probably find that the whole global warming shebang is not as serious as it's made out to be. Of course pollution is bad and measures should be taken to lessen its damaging effects. But I kind of think that some of these people pushing for decreased carbon emissions are pushing for more than just a cleaner environment. I think there is a hidden agenda underneath the surface of the push for a "cleaner world." How can one not be at least a little suspicious of the whole idea? Especially when advocates of global warming have to distort truth and logic in order to get the masses to believe that global warming is "for reals" and is "happening fast" and that we need to do something HERE and NOW. For instance, Al Gore's documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," is a very popular film and has done much to "wake up the nation" to the "global warming epidemic," but there were many discrepancies in his documentary. You can read about them in this article at this website: http://scienceandpublicpolicy.org/monckt...

Despite the "facts" that turned out to not be factual, Gore still received much recognition for his film, not to mention a Nobel Peace Prize. There is always the chance that Al Gore just doesn't know his science and he innocently put a few "facts" that weren't actually supported by science into his film by accident (he is, after all, a politician, not a scientist). Maybe he's just a guy overly concerned for our world's well-being and didn't mean any harm by putting theories into his film that he promoted as "facts." Still, even if Gore did not mean any harm by making a propagandistic film, why would he--not to mention many others--have to use propaganda, twist facts, promote theories as facts, etc, in order to get the masses to wake up and realize something that is "really" and "truly" happening with global warming? Why can't they just present the facts instead of use lies to support their claim?

I dunno. I do believe that pollution has negative effects on the environment, but I am not so sure that it's as bad as the global warming people are saying it is. I think that the world just goes through cycles of warm/cold, and the sea levels rise and fall in cycles as well. The world is ever-changing, and when you think about it, we've only recently acquired the high-tech technology to measure these changes. We could easily be misled into believing that the world is becoming warmer when we don't really have very much extensive past data to base our "facts" upon (do a little research on past seasons/temperatures/climate records, though, and I am sure you would find that cycles of hot/warm, etc, are also evident).    It's really only been in the past 150 years or so that actual records have been kept concerning weather changes, seasonal changes, temperatures, etc. Who knows? Maybe through the millennia, the world has always experienced periods of hot/cold. Who are we to say, really?

  15. yes its real as u can see rise in earth temperature every year........

  16. ya but it wont effect you will be died by then

  17. Here in Alaska we are seeing huge evidence of it.  When that permafrost thaws, oh are there ever going to be LOTS of methane gases released. It won't be pretty! Methane is UMPTEEN times more potent than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas We also see it in our glaciers - they have been receding big time, not to mention sea ice melts.

And in Siberia, within the past 5 years, scientists have discovered permafrost thawing. That's another huge expanse of land - and more methane gas.

I think Global Warming is real.  That finding has been accepted by hundreds of climate experts and governments world-wide. No one can ignore climate change any more and call global warming "a bad illusion of some greenies".

72% of the totally emitted greenhouse gases is carbon dioxide (CO2), 18% Methane and 9% Nitrous oxide (NOx).

Almost 100% of the observed temperature increase over the last 50 years has been due to the increase in the atmosphere of greenhouse gas concentrations like water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane and ozone. The emission of carbon dioxide into the environment is mainly from industrial processes which burn fossil fuels (oil, gas, kerosene, etc.) which has  increased dramatically over the past 50 years

Yes, carbon credits are  the key component of national and international emissions trading schemes to mitigate global warming. The purpose being a way to reduce greenhouse effect emissions on an industrial scale by capping total annual emissions and letting the market assign a monetary value to any shortfall through trading. Credits can be exchanged between businesses or bought and sold in international markets at the prevailing market price.  It's just business, and a big one at that.

While Mother Nature reigns supreme, (ie Mt. St. Helens, etc) and goes through her  climatic cycles, we humans aren't helping!! And I feel bad for future generations.
