  1. I wish someone could tell me the truth to this one also

  2. Man made global warming is a hoax

As for natural global warming, this is true. The planet has gained a little over 1 degree since the last mini ice age, which ended around 1860.

  3. Global Warming is a hoax and it's designed to be a very costly one.

  4. + 1 for stirring everyone up. I can't wait for the replies!

  5. No.  There is a ton of proof.  Why don't you ask the polar bears that are dying everyday because the ice is melting and they drown??

    Wake up people!

  6. Okay, everyone needs to get off sites like this and do some actual research.

The Canadian government is getting ready to start euthanizing polar bears because their population has increased so much in the last ten years there isn't enough food for them.  Those are the polar bears that are starving.

Global Warming is just as real as Global Cooling (ie. they are opposite ends of the same natural cycle).  The latest data from NASA and the IPCC indicates that warming stopped in 1998.  The temperature plateaued until 2002 when it started going down.  At this point the temperature has decreased by 0.4 degrees celcius.  The original warming that everyone was freaking out about was a whopping 0.7 degrees celcius.

Legitimate data (not from Al Gore) shows that CO2 increases are caused by global warming, not the other way around.  There is about an 80 year lag though.  So even though temperatures are decreasing, the CO2 level is still increasing.  Of course the CO2 level now is 385 ppm.  What that means though is that for every 1 million particles of atmosphere, 385 of them are CO2.

    Amy L.,

My question for you is, what actions are governments taking and what impact will they have?  The only thing governments can do is increase regulation, hamper economies, and take away personal liberties.  In that Global warming is driven by the sun, nothing that governments do will actually impact it.  Even the geniuses that thought up the Kyoto protocol knew that.

  7. Anyone with the slightest noledge of black body radiation can perform a simple experiment to disprove increased CO2 increases temperature. CO2 in the atmosphere is already at a point where it absorbps the maximum amount of energy it can from light and no matter how much more you add it only decreases the distance through the atomosphere to absorb all of it. CO2 heating the earth would only be a problem if our atmosphere was like 20m high.

  8. Nope.

This is science and what counts is the data.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)

    Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

EVERY major scientific organization has issued an official statement that this is real, and mostly caused by us.  The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

  9. Not hardly.  I wish.  You wish.  Let's all close our eyes and blow out the candles on the birthday cake and make the bad air all go away.

Governments are taking action.  Many reputable universities have programs with students and faculty striving to better identify what we're up against and how best to resolve it.

A few sites for you to investigate.  You won't get much good information on this site unless you slog through the rubbish, but every now and then a gem turns up that makes the time spent on this site worthwhile.

Good luck in your search for the truth.

  10. Of course, Al Gore and his sheep need the money they will make from selling carbon credits ti idiots who buy them.

  11. it looks like the earth is actually warming, but whether its caused by humans.... who knows?

all i know is that the earth will be fine.  the polar bears will be fine- they survived the last medieval warm period, and guess what, they'll survive this warm period.

there is no way we can "kill" the earth.  people are stupid, the earth doesnt care what we do to it.  we will all be ok.

  12. yup
