Is Gloria Steinem a good role model for Feminist?

Gloria is often seen as a man hating bigot who insults rather than debate. How many feel she is the best example of feminism?

She is a Gynosaur. Who made the Quote. "A Woman Needs A Man Like A Fish Needs A Bicycle", she later married in her Sixties. She is a prime example of the hypocrisy of the Feminist movement. A Boomer anti male Bigot seen as an icon by Feminists in the US.

The Male version is simple. "Never Let A Fish Use Your Bicycle". Meaning Men can go their own way and do their own thing and we are indifferent to Feminist insults.

She also added some extremely insulting comments during Hilliary Clinton's campaign that shows she has not mellowed and is an Extremist. She stated that Sexism was the cause of Hilliary's woes not her baggage or poorly executed campaign.

She is a Rabid Man Hater. And is a lightning Rod for Male hatred of Feminists. Good choice for Feminists to show what they really think of Men. We are subhuman, Violent Sexual Animals in their Eyes.

In some ways, yes. She has said some controversial things in the past, but she's not like the other extremists who get quoted on a regular basis around here.

Well I have agreed with some things she has said... I liked her qoute "We are talking about a society in which there will be no roles other than those chosen or those earned; we are really talking about humanism.", "Evil is obvious only in retrospect.", "The first problem for all of us, men and women, is not to learn but to unlearn.", "The truth will set you free. But first, it will p**s you off.". She also is the one that said " If women are supposed to be less rational and more emotional at the beginning of our menstrual cycle when the female hormone is at its lowest level, then why isn't it logical to say that, in those few days, women behave the most like the way men behave all month long?"  Or this "We know that we can do what men can do, but we still don't know that men can do what women can do. That's absolutely crucial. We can't go on doing two jobs. ".

I really don't see her spitting out hate towards men. She is for marriage and has been married, she believes in raising men and women up to a new higher level.  I would have to say for what I know of her now that yes she is a great role model for women as women; not just feminist.

No.  I think women need a younger role model.. I think someone like Drew Barrymore, who made work for herself and other women, and created strong female movie leads as the PRODUCER of both Charlie's Angel movies, and who has followed her heart in love - relying on her own money, and not marrying money.  She doesn't talk about equality, she lives it!

Don't know, I've never yet read anything of hers.  I am still fuming over 'the Feminine mystique' and don't feel equal to tackling Gloria Steinem at the moment, Betty Friedan was bad enough.  there's a limit to what a body can stand at my time of life.
