  1. yes he is both.. the old testament is full of his vengence..thru Jesus he is trying a more loving approach. he is quick to anger and quick to forgive he truly is the ultimate father.

  2. merciful, He put all the sins of the world on Jesus when Jesus was on the cross, but He made spiritual laws. Ever heard the expression "what comes around goes around" or what you sew, you will reap" meaning anything you plant as a seed (doesn't mean growing vegetables) you will harvest in your life.

  3. Vengeful comes out a lot more than merciful.  Why do you think he has so many followers?  FEAR!

If people truly believed he was a God of love, they wouldn't be so scared.

  4. The great flood was just a way to get back at humans for sinning so much.

  5. Both. The flood was because the world became Godless, except Noah's family. He is merciful because He sent His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, who suffered and shed great drops of blood in the Garden of Gesthemane for our sins, so we can be forgiven of the stupid mistakes we make, so we can all return back to live with our Heavenly Father again. I would say He is very merciful for sacrficing His own son for you and me.

  6. I can provide many, many, many more.. better yet do a google search and see the light.

    Romans 12:19

    King James Bible

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

can't let the kids read the bible now.. all that violence and witchcraft too.

  7. I guess it depends on whether or not you do what he says.

It does say in the ten commandments not to have any Gods before him for he is a jealous God. (He doesnt like to share.)

  8. The answer is .. "yes"  God wants to shower blessings on His people, but He can be pushed too far ie. the Flood..

  9. I will look for it but I recall a verse that proves both.

    Numbers 14:18 (New International Version)

18 'The LORD is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.'

  10. "God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies." Nahum 1: 2

"For the LORD thy God is a merciful God; he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them." Deuteronomy 4: 31

so lets look at these to verses. First of God is a God of vengeance according to the first verse, but to who? It says he takes vengeance on his adversaries. who are his adversaries? All who disobey him, which would be every single person who ever breathed.

The second verse says God is merciful and will not forget his covenant. It took me some time to find the covenant between Abraham and God but in the end i think I found what I was looking for.

"And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. " Genesis 17: 7

If God says he will not brake his covenant. And if we are all sinners how does this work? that's were Jesus comes in. God is merciful enough to give us a mediator for out sins. So God will be vengeful opon those who refuse to be part of his covenant and merciful opon those who exsept Jesus.

  11. imaginary

  12. The Biblical one?

he is a miserable and mean entity.

    On top of it, vengeful

  13. I will let you figure that out!

  14. God gives everyone what they deserve. He's perfect, so he knows what he's doing:-)

  15. Yes. It is pretty much a matter of attitude.

He is merciful to the repentant.

    And vengeful to the contemptuous.

It is sort of like going to your Dad and apologizing for skipping school to see a movie even though he forbid you to see that movie.

    OR

Going to your dad and telling him that he is a fool to forbid you from seeing that movie and so you skipped school and saw it anyway.

The same dad should rightly produce two totally different reactions.

A dad that reacted the same way in both situations would be a poor dad indeed.
