It's free of cost but it should be connected to the internet  .

It has been free for me.. i use an Sony Ericsson W200i no charges from google and no charges from my network provider too..so it is worth a try bcoz the latest google map has got support for GPS

Normal internet usage costs apply, so whatever you get charged to use the net usually, you will get charged to use google maps too. It's a good little app though!
