Is Gov. Palin Self Serving (Concerning Her Daughters Pregnancy Issue)?

Question

I guess being a teen mother isn't so much a stigma theses days.

I hope for a healthy happy baby and marriage for this young woman.

But it puts a lot of pressure on an otherwise young person.

Basically she has to go from a kid to an adult virtually overnight.

Here's what bothers me...

Gov. Palin puts her aspirations of becoming the next VP over the best interest and PRIVACY of her daughter.

Sure, I agree with Obama that family is off limits.

But the genie is out of the bottle now.

Shouldn't she (Gov.Palin) have known this was going to happen?

I'm sure she is a very intelligent person to be picked one heartbeat away from a potential president.

But I think she really missed it on this one.

She may have known her daughter was pregnant.  You know we are not guilty for sins of others.  So it is unfortunate that the daughter got pregnant, but as  you say so many do these days.  Perhaps bigger issue for family issues and having babies and not abortion (and I'm glad she is choosing to have the baby), but might the mother have been of more influence had she been in the home instead of being governor?  I wondered who is taking care of the Downs syndrome baby Palin has.  Easy to say no abortion, but then who is minding the kids? Isn't that part of family issues, too?  Maybe she can afford a nanny or something.  And many women have to work to help support their families and I support that.  But did she have to work?  If it is a choice, then isn't that what many are asking for - a choice?  

It might lose her some of the evangelicals that she was thought to bring in.  I think they were counting on her pulling Hillary's votes because she is a woman, but I think women choose the person and not just because she is a woman, just as I hope that blacks choose the person or issues and not just someone who is black.  

I would be more interested in the intrigue going on with the person she fired who is a former brother-in-law, with emphasis on former as in ex husband of sister.

Leave her family out of it and pay attention to your own family problems!!! Focus on bigger issues of this election!!!

This isn't that big of a deal.  Why would she want to give up a chance of a lifetime over something as common as a unwed pregnant daughter?

I agree.  It wouldn't take a genius to see that one coming.

Now her daughter is going to get the coverage reserved for Britney, and we know how that turned out.

Considering that she wasn't the greatest choice for VP to begin with, it makes one wonder why she didn't take a pass.

We would not be discussing it today if not for the lie started by the dailykos about Palins baby boy ! The rumor mill brought this about! I am not going to cry about it, I hope you all beat the horse to death!

I have to admit that same thought has crossed my mind.  I mean she is raising children and basically applying for a very time consuming job.  However, I am betting she and her family have discussed this and they are all for it.  She is going to be painted as a terrible mother and the fact that her 17 year old daughter is pregnant will just help this cause to paint her as a mother who puts her own priorities over her family.  However, at the same time this helps her to better relate to the average American family.  To be honest with you she is the first "Politician" on the national stage that I feel can relate to the same issues that I struggle and deal with on a daily basis.  My wife is a stay at home mother (who votes) and this lady has gotten her fired up to vote for McCain (she voted for Hilary in the Primaries but I think that was because she thinks Obama is dangerous and wanted to do what she could to stop him not because she is a die hard Hilary supporter).  I think the media is trying to make this a huge issue but I think average Americans (which I feel my family and I are) relate to this lady and this may seal the deal for the republicans.

It would have been found out sooner or later. No matter how private you try to keep your children's lives, when you are in the spotlight like she is, it is impossible to keep the children out or it completely. There were already rumors starting to be spread that Gov. Palin's youngest child was really the child of her 17 year old daughter. Coming out and admitting that her daughter was pregnant did two things: it squashed this rumor before it got going, and it preemptively prevented the media from breaking the story and exploiting more than what they are doing now. The story will be old news in a week or two, and by the time the election comes along, it will be virtually forgotten about.

Palin is no fit for being VP or president of the US, she preaches abstinence yet her teen daughter has already become pregnant, if she cant control her own family how is she going to control America?
