Is Guadalajara a scary city to be in alone at night?

My sister just flew into guadalajara tonight on a connecting flight back to the US and when she went to get on the flight they told her it was full even though she had a ticket. now she had to take a cab alone to a hotel at night....is it dangerous there? I cant get a hold of her because her phone is not working there, and I am worried. I have never been to guadalajara, is it a scary place? should I be worried?

h**l no you shouldn't be worried! It's a great feeling to have no one know your whereabouts.  Let your sister enjoy this time of "invisibility" and just chill.  She'll call.  Now, if it's more than like ten days you might have to start worrying a bit.

no, it's not dangerous.  i mean...i am sure parts of it are dangerous, it's a big city...but i wouldn't describe it as dangerous.  i wouldn't worry.

Guadalajara is an awesome town.  Its really big and there is more to do there then in 90% of American Cities... She'll be fine.

Sad to hear that her airlines did that. Anyway, Guadalajara is a high tourist destination so im sure shes actually enjoying her night just being there. Dont think of Guadalajara as extremely dangerous.

I spent two weeks in the Guadalajara area a little over a year ago. Are there dangers involved in being in this city? Sure! There are dangers in ANY large city, but I don't think that Guadalajara is particularly more dangerous than the norm.

I would have to agree with the other forum members in that Guadalajara is simply a awesome city to visit and see. It is an incredible mix of the modern urban scene with the authentic mexican cultural scene. I greatly look foward to returning there to see a friend over Christmas Break!

white people think any place other than the US is dangerous at night. LOL no white lady, GDL  is safer than most US cities.
