  1. Yes.  The land is leased but the Cubans have no say in the matter.  They don't cash the check the Treasury sends them each month.

    Children who are born on base are considered natural born US citizens.

  5. The United States assumed territorial control (leased 45 sq miles) over Guantánamo Bay under the 1903 Cuban-American Treaty, in the wake of the Spanish American War, which granted the United States a "perpetual" lease of the area.  

    (perpetual, meaning: "continuing indefinitely without interruption; unceasing; constant).

    It is the only US Base in the world that is situated on Communist Land.

  7. Yes, it belongs to the United State, its our Territory. Just like Peurto Rico is U.S. Territory. We own it, our laws are in effect in those places but they are not considered "states"

  9. No.  It is a navy base on land leased from Cuba.

    We leased the land years ago before the Communists took over Cuba.
