I am kind of glad Bush and Cheney will not make it to the convention but will Obama take advantage of the whole situation? Or can this actually some how help Mccain?

  1. It will not hurt McCain at all.

Actually not having Bush and Cheney at the convention is a blessing in disguise

  2. I think natural disasters and politics shouldn't mix, the best solution in my opinion is to have both campaigns work together and help the people who may potentially be in need whether it be by fund-raising, logistics, or whatever is needed to help out the victims.

  3. as usual no help for the victims from republicans, therefore its going to hurt them, but i guess they are smart this time, hurricane victims might get some respite from republicans, timing of Gustav couldn't be better,There is an opportunity for republicans to improve their image,if they want to grab it.

  4. Since Obama supporters outnumber Bush/McCain people and since Obama is talking about rallying his troops to send aid...I think the democrats can seriously steal the spotlight  here. Wow, the republicans really need to have a good convention to have a fighting chance.

  5. no it will not, it will help them.

  6. Very damaging.

Their response this time is too little, too late.   No matter what happens, I think this reminds Americans of Katrina and what Bush and McCain were doing when Katrina struck.

  7. It will remind people how impotent the Republican administration was last time. It will hurt them.

  8.     I do not believe that Gustav will hurt the Republicans or the McCain ticket.  The response from McCain to suspend the RNC in light of Gustav only shows the Democrats/Obama that he is not like Bush and this clearly shows the seperation.   The Democrats stated that Bush took to long to respond to Katrina, and now McCain has reponded very quick, and has shown great concerns for the Americans that will be affected by Gustav.  If this was the Obama would he have cancelled his BIG SHOW?   After McCain announced his choice for VP,Obama was quick to point out her lack of experience.  He's a fine one to point out her lack of experience since she actually has more than he does.  I would rather have Sara Palin as President than Obama.  When Sara Palin gave her acceptance speech you  will noticed that the crowd chanted, "USA, USA, USA".  But when Obama gave his DNC speech the crowd chanted, "O BA MA, O BA MA, O BA MA."  Again this clearly shows that Obama is out for himself.  It's all about OBAMA, and not whats best for the USA. My husband and I have a friend that's in the Middle East with the Air Force and he told us that when Obama came over for his tour of the region, the soliders that were off duty were told that Obama was going to be there and that they had to dress in their Dress Blues and greet him.  Our friend is NOT an Obama supporter, but was told that it would not look good if no one was there to greet him.  When Obama arrived, he greeted the soliders and shook hands, but when the camaras were turned off Obama very rudly turned around and refused to answer any question or have pictures taken with the soliders.  Our friend stated that the soliders that were there at the time, (that were Democrats), stated that he just lost their vote, and how could they respect him as their Commander in Chief.  They stated that OBAMA is self centered and Obama is out for OBAMA only.  When Obama responded to the news about the attack on Georgia  he took just a minute out of his day to respond to the news, because he was leaving on  vacation to Hawaii with his family.  What will happen if he gets in the White House and a National Emergency occurs?  Will he just put the Country on hold so he can take his family on vacation.  Actually,  What are Obama's priorities?  It sound to me that his "Family" will come first not the USA.  However, I'm looking forward to the debates between McCain and Obama,  Obama will have a hard time since he will have to think for himself and not read from the tele-promter.   Back to the question, I think the Gustav disaster will help the Republicans.

  9. How could a storm hurt or help either party' they can't control the hurricane. Katrina  was going to hit the gulf coast regardlesss, it could have been a Democrat  in office . It's the responseability of the states and cities to be prepared emergecies, not just the federal government.

  10. Since everything humanly possible is being done before the storm, It will be hard for the libs to complain. But they will.
