Is Hacking W-LAN/ WEP possible??

my friend and i have an argument is it possible that someone could hack his wireless router if yes how???

Yes they can , i know that for sure , but i don't know how to explain it to you , i do believe most wireless connections are easier to hack , but it depends on the skill of the hacker of course.

If anyone on this site knew how to do it, they wouldn't say as I believe it would be pretty incriminating.

It *probably* is possible, but for the amount of time to crack a WEP key, (probably near to a Week on a VERY powerful machine) someone will have either, a) noticed you, b) called the police.

It would be quicker to find a Wireless lan without a WEP key and just use that instead.

Yes, WEP is indeed crackable. Programs such as Aircrack (http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php) can be used to obtain the password.

If you are looking for enhanced security, I would suggest WPA encryption as it provides a more robust security mechanism. While it isn't foolproof, iits a whole lot safer than WEP.
