  1. Dallas is better

  2. Whoo. Asking too much at a time, I´m afraid. :)

I´ve been living in Hamburg for almost 8 years now, and I´m loving it. Even though the city is the... I think third or fourth biggest in Germany altogether, it´s quite green. People are friendly, once you get used to the Northern German charm. ;)

It largely depends on the area you´re living, as in any other city on this planet. Areas to recommend in terms of life quality, nice surroundings etc. are Winterhude, Eppendorf, Eimsbüttel, Rotherbaum or the more suburbian areas of Volksdorf or Poppenbüttel. Depends on your income ... do you already know how much you´ll be making? You can always find cheaper housing in other areas that still aren´t "ghetto", just less green or with shops in greater distance. No big deal, as public transport is an absolute luxury here - you can get anywhere, anytime with busses or the subway.

The weather is bound to be less comfy compared to Dallas, winters are quite nasty here (more cold rain than pretty snow), spring and summer are awesome. Sights to see are too many to list here in one go, I would recommend you check out the Wikipedia entry on "Hamburg" or simply google around. The Speicherstadt, the port, the parks, the museums... there is so much to see, I still haven´t seen everything after all those years, even though I really tried to have a look around when I got here. :)

If you already have more details, feel free to send me a PM for infos on how to find housing, living costs for your budget etc. :)

  3. I lived in Texas and I have been to Hamburg twice.

You are talking two extreme differences not only in culture of course but weather. It is hot and dry in Dallas and it is a very clean city.

Hamburg is beautiful but I know it gets cold in the winter.

SO it really depends on what kind of temperature you prefer to live in. BOTH have great things about them.
