Question:

Is Hamilton's stupidity the only thing that might stop him winning the title?

He has the talent and has the mental strength as he showed at Silverstone where he was under immense pressure from 90,000 fans, British media and viewers at home and Mclaren to produce a great performance.

He just makes silly basic mistakes at random times in a season. Last season his stupidity came at the end of the season; this year it came at the start of the season. Who knows when and where his next act of stupidity.

It's unfortunate that such a gifted and determined driver makes so many stupid mistakes.

  1. Hamilton is a young talent who still has to learn alot from his sport. He will definitely win a few grand prix races but winning the championship will be a tall task for him. He just needs the right guidance and leadership from his mentors. And maybe one day, he will become not only a great but a mature driver. Hamilton is not stupid. If he is, he would not be in such a dangerous sport. He is just a brilliant but a naive driver. He is will learn from his trials and errors..

  2. It's called inexperience. Not a lot of 23 year old's have as much pressure on them as young Lewis does and he's still in the process of learning how to handle it. So far i think he's done pretty well...

  3. well i m too not an Hami Fan(Kimi...kimi...kimi!!!) but to be honest i must agree thant he's d**n talented and drives that McLaren really good...bt again what he lacks is Experience like the mistake he did in last years final cahmpionship deciding race due to which he lost the half won championship to Kimi...well look at this...at silverstone..heikki kovalaeinen lost the lead to him in just 2 laps...while heikki is more experienced and have driven an f-1 car more than lewis(he tested for renault in the year 2003,in 2005 he was put up as 2nd test driver alongside franck montagny,2006 full time testing in renault,2007 full time  1st drivers spot in renault and 2008 mclaren-mercedes) still he cannot stand the pressure from lewis and soesnt drive as boldly as lewis.

give him this season and i think from 2009 he could be a big threat(he still is...)

  4. well it did it 4 him last year

that and staying on dead tyres too long @ china gp

  5. Taking his experience and age into account I don't think he makes too many mistakes.

There are more experienced drivers out there who have been making more, but they're not under the spotlight of the British media.

People tend to underestimate the pressure Hamilton has to cope with, they think that he's driving a top car so everything is so much easier, well, expectations at a top team such as McLaren are higher, he only copes because he's so talented, if he weren't and was lacking the speed, then you would really see too many mistakes.

Piquet always said he would be doing the same job in that car,he and others too, now he says he has trouble because he doesn't know all the tracks as well as Alonso and the European races will be easier for him, remember how quickly Hamilton learned all the tracks he set foot for the first time last year?

    He didn't really struggle anywhere.

The guy is doing a fine hob, against more experienced competition.

Like you said he's gifted and determined but he does NOT make too many mistakes or he wouldn't have got 3 wins and wouldn't be joint leader in the championship.

A driver making too many mistakes can't survive and win  arainy Monaco and Silverstone destroying the opposition in the process, people pay too much attention to the press, very few of them really know what they're talking about and even thy have to go with the flow sometimes and write the same bull they feel people want to hear.

  6. I don't know if mistakes is quite the description I would use.

So far I think he has been pretty astonishing. He's young and is still learning.  There isn't a semi-rookie that he can be compared to. I might be wrong but I can't recall a driver who has had as  many pressure as he has had to deal with and I think he has delt with it all pretty graciously.

He's along way from being stupid!

  7. He doesn't make mistakes at random times, he makes them when he needs the points most.

In Malaysia and Montreal, when he needed points to retain his WDC lead, he threw them away, and I needn't explain Interlagos 07.

Pressure should not be blamed for his mistakes, because he decided to go to Mandela's party, and he signed the deal with nike.

He is capable of winning titles, and he undoubtedly will one day, but maybe in a couple of years. Give Kimi the couple more titles he deserves first.

  8. no, i think its his overconfidence that is stopping him from winning

  9. I am not a hamilton fan (Kimi all the way). I must admit he is a talented driver. He makes mistakes but which driver doesn't? (there  have been incidents like in France this season). I can see that his mistakes cost him towards the end of last season and at the beginning of this season. However he is mentally strong so if he can keep it together we might see a repeat of last season where one of three drivers could win the title.
