Is Hammersmith in London a good location?

The hotel I'm considering is at 65 Shepherds Bush Rd (Golden Strand) and .5 miles from the Hammersmith station. I've never been to London so I have no idea if this is 1. walkable, 2. safe and 3. aconvenient location to all the major sites.

If your familiar with the area, any input would be great!

Yeah it's alright... it's a bit further out of the City but does have really good transport links wit the Tube and buses to all the major sights.  It's safe, you're biggest problem will probably be the number of drunken Australians that live out that way this time of year!
