Not as popular as cricket and squash. It is about as popular in India as it is in the United States.

A minor sport played be people mostly for exercise.

On a more-competitive level, it is played by people who can't reach success in squash or cricket.

Indians are crazy at cricket and have no time to play or watch such minor sport just like handball games.
