I REALLY WANT TO KNOW THIS!!!! In the Derby, Street Sense got 1st, Hard Spun got 2nd, and Curlin got 3rd! In the Preakness Curlin moved up to 1st, Street Sense went to 2nd, and Hard Spun went to 3rd!! If things continue and if Hard Spun is in the Belmont he might win!!! But if you really think about it, this pattern means nothing but if it does than Hard Spun will win the Belmont if he runs and I just want to know if he is running in it!!!

  1. This is what Larry Jones (trainer of Hard Spun) said in an interview this morning.

"I don't know (about the Belmont). We'll discuss it. His mother was a stakes winner at a mile and a half. There is no reason to think he can't do it because he sure won't have to run this fast early next time. We'll discuss it. As we said when we started, we had plans of running three races, all three of them. We'll see. This race sure doesn't make me think that we can't do it. We'll see in the next day or so and we'll make our plans."

Edited to add - This Article from 5/21 says that Hard Spun is definite for the race.  http://www.drf.com/news/article/85117.ht...

  2. I think as long as he remains sound, and continues to have clean workouts they will probably run him in the Belmont...

Talk about three great horses! Even without a Triple Crown winner this has still been a great year!

  3. Hard Spun is a speed horse, and the Belmont is 2 furlongs farther that the Derby.  My money would be against his connections even "sending" him to the Belmont.  He could be a force in one of the shorter Breeder's Cup races though.

  4. I have a life.  The only interest I have in watching animals is on my barbecue.

I have heard that horse meat is actually pretty good!

  5. In both races he was overtaken coming down the stretch. I believe he is an excellent colt, but probably better suited for the mile.

  6. Yeah Hard Spun is the more likely to go on to the Belmont. Here is the site: http://www.ntra.com/content.aspx?type=ne...

  7. if it was my horse, i would sit out the belmont and give him some more rest. I would then target him for a graded stakes race more to his liking and style of running. the triple crown takes too much out of a horse. three races in five weeks!

  8. If he is fine and healthy then he will probably go into the race. I also like Hard Spun but my favorite is Curlin. So I hope all 3 of the horses run, then it'll be a good race! Yesterday, after that Preakness, wow! My heart was just pounding! I was so excited that Curlin won! But I feel really bad for Calvin Borel. :(

But at least maybe Street Sense and Curlin will race each other in the Belmont, then if one of them win, at least one of them won 2 jewls of the Crown. That's good.

  9. No.  I don't think we can get the distance.
