Opposition leader Stephen Harper has told Fox News in the U.S. that most Canadians outside Quebec support the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, despite our government's decision not to take part in the war.

In an interview with the American TV network, Harper said he endorsed the war and said he was speaking "for the silent majority" of Canadians. Only in Quebec, with its "pacifist tradition," are most people opposed to the war, Harper said.

There are 3 big problems with Harpers statement - 1 There has never been one poll in this nation that supports Harpers assertions - and apparently Harper doesn't speak for the 25 % of the nation that lives in Quebec - and 3 he seems to want to please Americans with this statement and doesn't mind misrepresenting the truth to support his making nice to foreigners

So who does he speak for if it isn't Canadians ?

I'm American, and although I don't know how the majority of the Canadians feel about the war, I can say that most of the Canadians I've communicated with on the Internet are dead-set against it.

The only one Harper speaks for is his own political agenda, which I am hopeful will fail miserably within Canada and with Canadian voters in October.  Jack Layton's my man this year!

25% live in Quebec? 75% live out in the country...this guy's assertion has the ring of truth to it...your assertions have the ring of desperation to them...
