Question:

Is Hawaii a good place for single Asian-American man

I've been in US for 20 years. I currently have a State job, but I want an exit from America. I want out. I think America never allowing a girl friend is probably a big reason. (Black women can complain and blame the society like in the CNN's article "Black and Single: Is marriage for Whites only?", but Asian men can't do that. We'll be told something is wrong with us. We'll be vehemently accused of racism and sexism, and ridiculed for not getting it. It's tiresome) So can I go back to Asia? That's much easier said than done. I think Hawaii would be easier to go to than going back to Asia.

I am aware that Asians are still the majority, but Asian population percentage is decreasing in Hawaii. Cost of living??? No, you can't run away from high cost of living, People are complaining high cost of living everywhere.

However, for employerable Asian-American man, can life be different for the better in the islands of Hawaii? Please advise.

  1. Hate to burst your little bubble DARK MAGICIAN but you are considered Haole as well (Haole doesn't mean WHITE, it means without breath)...you are NOT Native Hawaiian...As far as YOU the Poster...I think you should just head back to Asia...you are too much of a WHINER to live ANYWHERE in the U.S. as the Hawaiians wouldn't like your POOR ME attitude anymore than those of us on the Mainland....Cowboy-Up and start being a real MAN!

  2. Yes, life can be different. Hawaii is filled with diversity, and you will be accepted and respected. There's no racism here, but we do hate on people who disrespect our culture and customs. Over here, the local style is very laid back.

To correct you, there are more haoles (whites) than Asians, but only by 2-3 percent.

I am a single Asian-American man as well.

  3. I don't know which state you are in, here in California, we have a lot of Asian women living in here from American Born to newly immigrated women of different ages.

You have to join more hobby clubs, meet-ups etc to meet more women who have the same interest with you, that would be a big help.  Many single women are available but just you still haven't come across them.  Especially Asian women, more conservative and may not be as outgoing, they don't even tell you even if they are in fact available.

If you are able to transfer your state job to california, it will be really a big advantage.

Don't be disappointed over your current situation,  I am sure it is just a matter of time.

  4. I personally think it should be better in Hawaii then in the deep South for an Asian guy.

  5. Maybe, I've never been to Hawaii before, but I know that in California most women have very negative stereotype about us Asian guys.

  6. Here in Hawaii, we distinguish between all the Asian races, so are you Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Korean, or what??  You would probably feel much more accepted here than in many areas of the US, but if you come with your attitude, you might have problems no matter where you go.  The sovereignty issue is a complex and very political subject, so best not to get involved until you know all the details.  Most people in Hawaii are loyal Americans and would not appreciate your attitude.

  7. You're ridiculous because on your original post you keep referring to how you "want an exit from America!"  Hawaii is one of the states, it is part of America.  And yes, it IS one of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA regardless of what you say.  If you don't like it, bye!!!

  8. I can't say that race & ethnic identity are totally overlooked here in Hawaii, but we do tend to look at the person for who he or she is as an individual.  And your attitude will not make it easy for you to fit in.
