  1. Hawai'i is gorgeous. The culture there is also friendly and accommodating, so newcomers are always welcome. However, it's incredibly expensive to live there. Everything has to be shipped in and with the spiraling cost of fuel, this is a significant consideration.

I've only been there twice on vacation and enjoyed it immensely.

Take a trip to Hawai'i and see for yourself. The high cost of living might be acceptable to you once you see how beautiful it is there.

  2. You can write off Hawaii then.  It's insanely expensive to live on any of the Hawaiian islands.  Most married couples in Hawaii both work and live in an apartment.  If you're single you'd pretty much have to have a roommate just to make ends meet.  To give you an idea -- when we were in Honolulu last year, we saw a house on a bus tour that was maybe 1,400 square feet, in bad shape, and in a so-so area of town.  The asking price was $880,000.00.  So unless you can get a job in Hawaii making at least $150,000.00 a year, I'd suggest someplace else like Arizona or Georgia.

  3. Way too expensive!!!

Also, I feel crammed in on the island....lots of people and not a lot of places to get away....
