Well it was originally an ice cream topping and it is named for the 7 main fruit flavors, which are apple, apricot, guava, orange, papaya, passion fruit, and pineapple. They all can be grown in Hawaii.

I think it is a catchy name that they invented to take advantage of the tropical flavors that are in it.
