Is Hello Dolly (the musical) performed in an American accent?

Remember the Broadway production was done with a relatively realistic Yonkers New York accent at first (slightly Jewish/Yiddish/German) which got flattened as other actresses took the lead role, then the whole cast was changed to black actors with Pearl Bailey in the lead role among others.  Just as good.
