  1. he was out of sorts if you watched ipl. doesn't matter which format you play, timing the cricket ball is common. he couldn't time the ball during ipl

  2. these days no

  3. yar hes not consistant in test

  4. Herschelle Gibbs was once the backbone of South African batting and was considered as the best batsman of South Africa. However, of late he is out of form and that is the reason why he is not a regular member of the team at present.   Presently Grame Smith is their best batsman.

  5. In test matches, Gibbs is the 16th all-time best.

The list is: RG Pollock, Arthur D Nourse, Jacques Kallis, Derrick J McGlew, Bruce Mitchell, Herbert W Taylor, Edgar J Barlow, Kenneth C Bland, Eric A B Rowan, Graeme C Smith, Gary Kirsten, George Faulkner, Daryll Cullinan, Robert Catterall, Hashim Amla and then Herschelle Gibbs. His last series against Windies in 2007 did not go very well as could score only 27 runs in 3 innings but then he was outstanding in field having taken 5 catches. This performance does not warrant removal of Gibbs from his team.

In ODI matches, the order is: Gary Kirsten, Jacques Kallis, Peter Kirsten, Kepler Wessels, Graeme Smith, Hansie Cronje, Neil McKenzie and then Herschelle Gibbs. In ODI, he has showed good performances in 2005 (16 matches, 14 innings, 726 runs), 2006 (22 matches, 20 innings, 696 runs) , 2007 (26 matches, 19 innings, 880 runs) and also 2008 (7 matches, 7 innings, 231 runs).

I wonder why this player should be dropped !

  6. Jacques Kallis is South Africa's best batsman and has been for a very long time.

Gibbs is a good batsman but certainly not the the best in the SA team. And he's been struggling with form for a while now and consequently isn't in the team.

  7. I would rate Kallis & Smith as being superior to Gibbs just now, in fact Smith is number 1 at present I believe.

  8. If his form has dropped, then I suppose it's sensible to try someone else, & they are lucky they have the players to do this. Or is this another case of colour raising it's head?(like when they dropped  Nel)

  9. He is pretty good but not the best... i think graeme smith is better and lately gibbs has been struggling with form and thats why he is not in the team right now...

i hope he makes a comeback... i like his batting style...

  10. Gibbs is a really good batsman but not South Africa's best batsman. I think Graeme Smith is their best batsman. Gibbs has been struggling for form that is hwy he's out of the team

  11. Jacques Kallis is South Africa's best batsman: by a long country mile. Gibbs is probably their most destructive, and therefore most appealing batsman. But he and Kallis are not in the same league.

  12. No Gibbs is not South Africa's best batsmen he is good but has experienced a terrible time in test cricket over the past few years which warranted his omission from the test team and the fact that Neil Mckenzie who replaced him has done well hasn't helped his cause he still plays odi cricket for SA and may get a chance back into the test team if Mckenzie or another player has a bad tour and I know he will get a place in the squad if a batsmen gets injured but still youngsters like JP Duminy are ahead of him right now so sadly I think his test career is over but you never know because he is a very talented player

Oh and to Bingalee I'm not sure if you know this but Gibbs is half coloured so the quota system could not be against him it could only help him as he is classified non-white
