  1. Physical punishment? Apparently you have never experienced physical punishment, which is things like being punched or having your hair pulled. Detention at school is not nearly as harmful to the student as the student has been to get the detention in the first place!

  2. In my school kids just sit in a room for 45 mins after school.

  3. At my school kids that are late get a lunch detention where the kids that are late have to eat lunch in a separate room with no talking. If you caught talking than your automatically given an after school detention.                                                                                  After your late 3 times you get a 1hr after school detention where kids are sent to the cafeteria and have to write lines.

  4. I was understanding that you are stuck after school for a few hours.  At my childrens school they pick up trash, sweep, study, things like that.

I don't think it's physical punishment in the wording of somebody putting their hands on you.  If you are expected to work, that's physical.  I guess it depends on how you choose to look at it.

  5. at are school, we have detentions, where you just go back at lunchtimes and you normally have to sit in sielence.

then we have after school detentions, where he sit in a room for an hour and do the work that they set us.
