  1. Like many other areas, I think it's changed over the years and not for the better.

    Very, very ethnic.

  2. two people were stabbed at a pub on the holloway road last month.

  3. There are bits of N19 that don't look so great but then I remembered Tufnell Park is up there & it's not so bad, the Whittington Hospital is also in N19 so you wouldn't have far to stagger if you were mugged : )

Moving away from the Whittington & Archway Tube Station you're going up the hill towards Highgate and if you move in the other direction you're moving into the heart of Holloway (N7) which isn't too bad.  Finsbury Park (N4) isn't too bad either, ask an Arsenal fan about the pubs in the area.

  4. it's not particularly "nice" but it's not absolute rock bottom either ... I know of many much less desirable areas of London ... as to whether you'd get mugged, that's debatable ... I've got a few friends live in that area and they haven't been mugged

  5. No, it's not very nice at all. You're not likely to get mugged any more than anywhere else in London, if you're careful.

    Holloway is N7

Upper Holloway and Archway is N19 (also not great)

  6. I take it you don't mean the womens prison :-)

there are good areas and bad areas.

just down the road (N7) there are some notorious areas for streetwalkers, but on the other hand, its is quite close to highgate and some pleasant open spaces

  7. It's not too bad, though certainly not fancy. The further south on the Holloway road you get the better - i.e. closer to Upper Street / Highbury. I've never seen any muggings or anything of the kind around there, and as for the comment about it being too 'ethnic', maybe that person should move to another city - multiculturalism is what makes London interesting.

I wouldn't be too put off - in London every area has bad streets and good streets, and there are certainly plenty of nice bits around Archway and Holloway.
