  1. Yes, La Ceiba is a safe place.  Stay in places with people around.  Don't walk around after dark, get a cab.  Dress casual.  When leaving your hotel room, take a copy of your passport, leave the passport in the room.  Don't carry a lot of money.  If you are robbed.......GIVE IT ALL to them.......if they are having a bad day and you mess with them......your worries are ALL over.......Mind your manners.......do not ask for trouble, you'll find it.  It sounds like you do not have a ride from the airport.  SAP is located on the outskirts of San Pedro Sula.  You will need to get a cab to the bus station.  Find the bus going to LaCeiba.......you can also rent a car.  The roads are not so good.  DO NOT drive at night....down here, "they" do not use traffic lights as much as speed bumps..........WATCH OUT for these........  If you know where you are going to stay in La Ceiba, ask them to guide your way there......how much to the bus station, for the bus, when the buses leave SPS.  You will have a Great Time.....Enjoy!

  2. I'm from there so what I know is that try to avoid the dangerous places if you know someone that lives there it's better to hang out with them. Don't wear any type of jewelry.
