  1. yeah, good question to ask as having them enter the games as a 'country' is a bit confusing.

others have already answered you, i just wanted to let you (and others) know that it's cool to ask questions and don't be worrying about dills who say otherwise.

  2. Hong Kong is part of China, but is identified as a Special Administrative Region, same as Macau.  Chinese people need visas to go to either of them.  Foreigners can (normally) go to HK/Mac for up to 90 days without a visa, but require a visa to enter mainland China.

HK and Mac is almost an entirely different world than mainland China.

  3. hong kong is a part of china and has always been. it was ceded to the british by the empress dowager cixi and given back to china in the year 2000(i think).

  4. Hong Kong was returned to China in 1997 and is now a part of China. But under the so-called "one country , two systems" policy, HK enjoys almost full autonomy except diplomacy and defense. It has its own currency, own judicial system, own passport and own memberships in many international organizations, such as WTO and International Olympic Committee. There are actually border controls between Hong Kong and mainland China. Travel documents equivalent to visas are required for residents on both sides. And most laws in China don't apply in Hong Kong. This "one country, two systems" policy is codified into Hong Kong's Basic Law, a sort of mini Constitution for HK. It is to last for at least 50 years starting from 1997.

  5. Silly Question,

Is Guam part of USA as an island or is it its own country?

  6. no it's not a country. It's a special region of China.

  7. HK was returned to China back in 1997.  So now it's just another city of China.  Not a region.  Not a province.  Just a city.

  8. It is a very large city in China!!! Study your Eastern Hemisphere.
