Is Hotel Ancon in Cienfuegos (cuba) nice??

how's the food, the beach; are there any tourist attractions??

I have not been to that resort. It's recommended to be book at a resort/hotel that is not less than a 4* to ensure quality of food, service, accomodations, etc. Some sites say this is a 3*, some say 4*...But I believe this resort is a nice one.

There are many attractions all around in Cienfuegos,Trinidad, Varadero, and Villa Clara. You will have many options surrounding you for your day trips/excursions.

As well, take advantage of the trips to Havana (and an overnight stay if you choose).

Most resorts have great food...many complain because they're not adventurous and are not open-minded to different cultural foods. The food in Cuba is fresh, healthy, lots of variety...and very tasty as well. The International Restaurants in most hotels are excellent as well.

All the beaches in Cuba are gorgeous and the Cubans are wonderful...You will enjoy your trip for sure.

*Edit: well, I guess Riki would know about the food and rooms since he was there before...I would recommend a Sol Meliá or Iberostar hotel/resort...I've been to a Cubanacan before...they're not bad but these others are more recommended.

A couple of years back I was there for two weeks.  On the plus side the beach is fantastic and Trinidad which is very interesting is close at hand..  On the negative, terrible food  and very small rooms.  You can see my review and many others on tripadvisor below.
