  1. Houston is a pretty decent place but it is very hot and humid. Summers are awful. Even the airport smells moldy. If you can handle that, then Houston is great. Otherwise, for hot but not humid, consider Phoenix.

  2. Yes Houston is a great place to live.  The Woodlands and the Cy-Fair area off Highway 290 have excellent schools.  The cost of living and housing, in general, is very low compared to Alaska.  There is a lot to do here. This is a big city. 600 square miles big, in fact.  We have over 350 city parks, the symphony, the opera, the ballet, a theater district, over 40 museums city-wide, over 10,000 restaurants providing almost 250 different types of cuisine.  Yes 3 months out of the year it's hot and humid.  Everything here is air conditioned, so you merely restrict your outside activities to before 11:00 AM and after 7:00PM.  Traffic, oh yes, we have it.  You need to search for someplace to live close to where you work.  People are very friendly (except on the road---frustration you know).  We are culturally diverse.  Jobs abound.  Come on down!

  3. katy has really great school!!

  4. I just got here from CA for 8 months . I had 2 kids and the most of love is school system . was more hot in here but is not big deal . With us then here's alot of better . My husband is working on special car business and easy can get job too.

  5. Houston is a great place to be. It's interesting that you are asking from Alaska. My parent's have neighbors about 5 doors down that moved from there a few yrs ago and they love it.

  6. Houston is a good place to live. There's a lot of stuff to do here. You can go watch the astros and the rockets place at downtown. There is also the galleria mall ( one of the best in houston). theres plenty of jobs.  .

  7. Yes, Houston is a good place to live in for the most part. There are plenty of job opportunities.

Living: Alaska is one of the most expensive places to live in and, Texas is one of the least expensive places to live in the United States.

Schools:Spring Branch Independent School District,Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District and a couple schools in the Houston Independent School District.

Shopping: The Galleria, Centre at Post Oak, Uptown Park

  8. I think several people have done a good job answering your question... I just want back them up. Houston has a great place to live! Depending on where you decide to live- the is some GREAT school districts, and if you have an education- not a profesional- but you you have skills, there is work to be found.  I do not know the cost of living on Alaska but  we are average here. There is good deals at grocery stores ( I LOVE HEB AND CENTRAL MARKET) we have really good and fresh produce! And there is plenty of shopping stores all around the the Houston are. From Galleria, to Memorial mall, Katy Mills, the new Prime Outlets in cypress.... Houston is a wonderful place to live in and a great place to raise a family in.

  9. yea it is really good! lots of good schools for all ages and so many different opportunities

  10. houston is a huge place so i think choices would not be a issue as far as schools and well jobs are hard to come by now so it is a  gamble there , shopping is great and the cost of living high.

  11. Houston is a really boring place to live. There are jobs, but really that's the only thing it's got going for it if you ask me. They try to be like NYC and California but no cigar.
