no attention/media coverage will be directed to the republican convention if there even is one besides nominating the old man, which is great for the dems.

  1. Don't be so sure until things come to pass. The hurricane could weaken, turn toward Mexico, or the Republicans could succeed in merging the attention they were already going to get with hurricane coverage to dominate their presence in doing something about it. Governor Perry speaking to the convention remotely from Texas because he had to stay there to help with refugees, Governor Jindal speaking remotely from Louisiana with the storm raging in the background could not only boost the impression of Republicans dealing with the storm, but be his "Obama" moment from 2004 that catapults him into the limelight as a future party star. Same with Bush, even McCain, accepting from some remote location with a Red Cross tent in the background.

Don't be so sure this will hurt the Republicans. It may blast the Dems if spun correctly.

  2. The GOP is being upstaged by God. I think that's very just.

  3. Does it really matter?

  4. It could be.  With McCain up in the polls, maybe this is a sign that we don't need all the pomp and circumstance to rally the party together.
