Is Hurricane season over by Thanksgiving?

Question

I wanted to travel to the Caribbean or Cancun for Thanksgiving week. I know officially the Hurricane season runs till Nov. 30.

I am curious if people who have done this in the past feel that it is a safe time to book your flights and hotel for, or has the history been that the week can still have lots of tropical storms?

I doubt very much you will encounter a hurricane that late in the season.But just keep an eye out for weather reports to the island you want to visit. One thing about hurricanes, the weather people are very watchful, you will know a week in advance if a tropical storm is coming.
