Ever gotten so involved in watching a movie or TV show, you didn't notice someone talking to you?  

Ever been driving on long trip, miles pass and you don't remember traveling them?  Or maybe so preoccupied with thoughts that you missed a turn or an exit off the freeway?

Those are examples of everyday hypnosis.  It is simply a state of focused attention.

So, is it real or fake?

Real.

A hypnotic state is a natural state, & one in which we all enter several times a day.

To be taken down into hypnosis is the state simply induced by another with your full consent.

Hypnotic trance is a very useful tool in the fields of Psychology and Stress Management. Stage hypnosis is frequently ineffective, however, and plays on people's need for permission. (ie. given permission to act like a chicken, in front of friends, one will act silly if even in a mildly suggestible state, because it will create a memory of oneself in the watchers, permission has been granted in the form of an excuse ["I was under hypnosis!"] and our animal minds know that there is no such thing as bad publicity.)

Real - there are just too many examples witnessed for it not to be. Is also probably why the actual hypnosis cannot be shown on TV.
