Is IB math compatible with AP math?

can someone taking IB math take the AP exam and score highly?

Depends on which IB Math you are taking.

For HL Math, you only need to prepare for the format of the AP exam, which is different from the HL. I don't think you need to learn anything more for the AP Calculus AB.

For Math Methods, you probably need to learn a few more things alongside with the preparation you need to tackle the AP exam format.

In both cases, with few to some extra time, you can score highly in the AP AB test. If you are considering the BC though, you have to take the HL Option for Further Calculus (I forgot the exact name of option) in order for you to be prepared for the material.
