  1. It is "inexpensive" to middle class families.

However, cheap or expensive is a adjective, meaning it's subjective to people's feeling and economic situation.

If you mean bad quality, I'd say it's alright.  They do well if you don't move. They are a good bargain for real wood furniture.  If you move frequently (like some college students do), they don't survive after several times of moving.

  2. Sometimes yes, but it is because it is flat packed it is considered cheap. In saying that though, you really do get what you pay for.

  3. No it does not.

I recently redecorated my bed room with IKEA furniture.

It IS cheap. But, it can be very stylish and appealing.

They have everything you could possibly need.

However, you have to build everything yourself and the directions are not always correct.

  4. no i dont consider it cheap but there stuff its poorly made and brake after a few yrs.

many ppl have told me the same thing

    :)

  5. yes it is.

  6. For the most part, yes. Their furniture is affordable and not usually made of high quality materials. It's not really built to last.

That said, it is very functional and has an aesthetic of its own that can really look quite nice.

Furthermore, they have in recent years released some higher end stuff that is not so cheap.

  7. To me all the furniture looks alike.  Cheap, and it doesn't appeal to me at all.

  8. Ikea, MetroCentre   74%

The mere mention of a visit to Ikea can result in a variety of responses from your loved one and not without just cause. Given the vastness and obligatory routes once inside, to maximise your spending potential, many shoppers look as if they have lost the will to live whilst their partners desperately look for an emergency exit well before the halfway point.

When Ikea, MetroCentre expanded even further to include a second level, my heart sank-I estimated an average time of 1 hour to even reach first base, kitchen ware.

    Not so!!

Ikea must have been worried about the numbers of customers dropping from exhaustion and have sign posted shortcut routes. Not only that, there is a short cut directly to the Market Hall on the upper level where all the small items are to be found.

So, on my most recent visit with loved one, my stock of much admired wineglasses was replenished-£1.80 each; several useful items to improve drawer and cupboard space in my newly fitted kitchen were found; Ikea's delicious foodstuffs could not be overlooked such as their Lingonberry conserve, cheeses, frozen Rosti, Gravadlax, a large box of superb shell on Crayfish and of course their celebrated selection of Dimebar products.

Including a refuelling stop in their restaurant,£1.80 for a really good bowl of homemade tomato and basil soup with poppyseed bap, our visit took just over an hour.

On checkout, I was offered a Familycard, completed it, received a good discount and was informed that on future visits, complimentary refreshments would be available on its production.

I must also add that the Ikea staff at their MetroCentre store are very customer service orientated.

  9. As a upholster- YES Ikea furniture is cheaply made- and I too do not mind some of there designs. IF your looking for inexpensive furniture that will maybe last 2-4 years go for it- If your looking for quality furniture that will last 15-25 years- keep looking, Ikea is a quick fix...not a lasting one.

  10. ikea rox

  11. It really depends on your definition of "cheap" - it's affordable and not too expensive, but in my opinion it doesn't look too inexpensive and it can last for years if you look after it.

The reason they can keep costs low is because most items are sold "flat-pack" which saves on transportation costs. It's much more cost-effective to deliver 100 flat boxes to the store than to deliver 25 pre-built bookcases (or whatever) and these savings get passed down to the customer.

I have many things from Ikea, and I have never had any problems with them. they offer a 90 day returns policy if you change your mind, and I'vea heard that they are very good about refunds if you ever need them to take something back.

  12. i didnt think so..

    i like ikea :)

  13. yep

  14. Yes

  15. I Love IKEA furniture.  I think its quite competitive in pricing, the items they sell are 'different', (thats why I love it!) I know many people who have IKEA items in their house and they have lasted quite well.  As has been said most things come flat-pack, requiring assembly, so if you're handy with an allen key you'll be fine!

  16. ikea is cheap for sum storage stuff,n bits n pieces for the house like cushions n lamps n things but for lounges n dining tables/beds ect id recommend fantastic furniture..

  17. no why i always go there coz there stuff is really funky and different!
