one american dollar gets you 73 icelandic kronas, but is it really a good thing, like can anyone tell me how many icelandic kronas it cost for a bottle of water, a nice fish dinner, a nice hotel room, i have travelled to Norway, Denmark , and Sweden, and i know denmark and Norway are ridiculous for americans to travel too. I want to know if it is a cheap place to travel too for 5-10 days, and how many kronas does it take for 3-4 people to eat and drink, and buy souvenirs, and gas for a rental car per day. if anyone who knows these answers because they have been therre or because they live there, please help!

  1. I have never been there, but last I heard, it was very very expensive.  About ten years ago, a friend in London (that is also outrageously expensive) told me that Icelandic people scoop up Levi's jeans at $125 bucks a pair, because they are so cheap there.  At the time, I could buy 501s for about $25 buck on sale at Sears, and $40 regular price

I googled Iceland restaurants, and there is a very good website with restaurants listed, and contact numbers.   I would give them a call, and find out what they charge for the kind of meals you like.

  2. Don't listen to the other posts!!  It doesn't have to be expensive!!  (especially if you're young!)

The best way to do Europe is a student tour!

Especially if you're young.  Did you know that youth are encouraged to travel with many many discounted  programs?

Are you between the ages of 18-26?  If so, I can reccommend how I have travelled all of Europe.  It's awesome!

    Check out this site:

    http://www.efcollegebreak.com

It lists tons of vacations, priced cheap for students...or really anyone from age 18 to 26.

They take care of the airfare, transportation, activities...they basically make sure you have a great time!

Its way cheap, fun (you get to travel with other hot college kids), safer and smarter.

Plus if you use this manager code: gavrie6237

you'll get a $50.00 discount on top of the already cheap price!!

  3. Its really esxpensive - its costs more than Norway or Denmark but my god, it is fabulous!!!!

    Prices in dollars:

    bottle of water $3

a nice fish dinner $50-$150 - yes its REALLY expensive!

    a nice hotel room - $180-$250

It is possible to go on the cheap by camping and cooking food bought in a supermarket. But if you decide to hire a car, stay in hotels and eat out then expect 5 days to cost you $1500!

It is the most beautiful place in the world though! But do not go to Reykjavik as its just another boring Scandinavian city. Nothing to see apart from shops and churches.

Do go to these two though:

The best short trip you can do is as follows:

Pick up car from Reykjavik and drive straight to Geysir. Spend the day looking at the geothermal geysirs and Gulfoss. Then drive to Skaftafell. Spend a day walking around magnificent scenery and go to jokulsarlon too. Stay another night then visit Skogarfoss and the Blue lagoon the following day. Then drive to the airport and return. 3 nights of pure bliss. I did a 10 day circle of the whole island. It was the best holiday I ever had.
